Pablo Martínez Llorente

Pablo Martínez has over seventeen years of experience in complex dispute resolution, having developed his professional career at top-tier law firms such as Uría Menéndez and Hogan Lovells, and currently at WHITEWELL. He is a leading practitioner in national and international arbitration and has been recognised as a Future Leader by the prestigious Who’s Who Legal directory.

He regularly advises on contractual and shareholder disputes, as well as on annulment and enforcement proceedings of arbitral awards. Throughout his professional career, he has acted in proceedings before different instances and across a wide range of matters, particularly in the renewable energy sector –including oil & gas and mining– and in the construction sector. He has also been involved in disputes arising out of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and in matters related to the transport sector, especially in the airport and rail industries.

He has represented clients in arbitration proceedings administered, among others, by the Madrid Court of Arbitration (CAM), the Spanish Court of Arbitration (CEA), the Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration (CIMA) and the ICC International Court of Arbitration (ICC). Clients rely on his experience to represent them in international arbitration proceedings conducted in both English and Spanish.

 

He has also acted as administrative secretary to arbitral tribunals and has been appointed as arbitrator in various arbitration proceedings.

 

He combines his professional practice with academic activity, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He has lectured on advocacy and procedural law at ICADE, as well as delivering several specialised seminars on litigation and arbitration practice.

 

His personal interests include reading and chess.

 

He speaks Spanish and English.
