Sebastián Mejía García

Sebastián Mejía has over fifteen years of experience in international arbitration, having developed his professional career at leading international law firms such as Allen & Overy (London office) and Baker McKenzie (Madrid office), and currently at WHITEWELL.

 

He has acted in more than fifty commercial, investment and sports arbitrations conducted under the main arbitration rules, including those of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, AAA-ICDR, LCIA, ICSID, CAM, CEA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). While he handles arbitrations of all kinds, he has particular expertise in accounting and financial disputes, post-M&A disputes and construction arbitration.

 

He has also handled a wide array of litigation matters and disputes across multiple industries and subject-matter disciplines, and is known for his calm demeanour and his ability to simplify complex issues. In the construction sector, he has represented owners, developers and contractors in transactions, project advisory services and contentious proceedings, including disputes relating to construction defects, delays, payment disputes and construction liens.

 

He has broad experience representing all types of private parties in construction litigation and complex disputes, as well as significant international experience. His extensive background advising clients in multicultural environments and across diverse business customs enables him to provide particularly effective advice to Latin American clients with interests in Europe.

 

He also acts as an arbitrator and is an arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

 

He is admitted to the Spanish Bar, is licensed to practise law in the State of New York, and is a Solicitor of England and Wales. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.


He speaks Spanish and English.
